My improved video which follows several multimedia learning principles.
First of all, I have to apologize for my poor audio quality, my mic was not doing a decent job.
- Segmenting Principle: I have applied this principle by separating my video into two parts, the first part is a brief presentation on the Browser game, the second one is a demonstration of a specific web-based game, it helps the learners to absorb my content step by step through paced sections.
- Personalization Principle: I have used a conversational style to talk and referred my own experience on Browser games to helps the learner feel more relevant.
- Signalling Principle: I have highlighted all the important points in my content to draw attention from the learner in order to help them memorize the main points.
- Contiguity Principle: I have tried to create a neat and beautiful layout with relevant pictures and text combined together. By doing so, learners can correspond to the material better.
- Pre-training Principle: I put the definition on the first page to provide an introductory background for a dive-in learning experience. I brought up some key terms and features.
Cognitive Load Theory:
During the process of my video making, I have considered carefully about the cognitive load theory, I have simplified some extra content to avoid overloading the learner with too much information within such a short time. But I think I have failed to lead the learners to conceptually rich and deep knowledge.
